Hello to all and welcome to my personal
page. I plan on posting a variety of different things here that are
interesting to me and hopefully they will be of interest to you also. Here
you'll find hunt stories, firearm related projects and who knows what else.
So stop by once and a while and check things out. Some of these files
below are PDF files and you'll need Adobe Reader

I was looking for an accurate, long range caliber based on a standard AR
platform. After much investigating, I settled on the 6.5 Grendel. It
has proved to be a real performer with excellent manners. For the rest of
the story, click your mouse on the Grendel badge to the left.

The Curio & Relic FFL License

Have you ever heard of a Federal Curio & Relic firearms license? It's easy to get this FFL and it only costs about $30.00 for three years. It allows you to buy old rifles and pistols wholesale and have them delivered right to your door (no pistols in Kaliforniastan). You also get dealer discounts at most dealers like Midway, Rock River Arms, Brownell's and many others. Click on the picture to the left for more info.

Click on the photo on the left for the complete, start to finish, Nagant Sporter project. This is a really fun, inexpensive way to build an excellent 7.62 X 54 sporting rifle that will take down just about anything.

If you are going to be hunting on private land and you have permission from the land owner, it's a very good idea to have a signed letter from him, in writing and keep it with you while you're hunting. Click on the crosshairs on the photo and print out a sample letter of permission.

So you say you'd like to add an
extra battery inside the cap of your hunt rig to power lights, a calling CD
player, an MP3 amplifier a small inverter or other accessories. Installing
the battery is easy but how can you charge it. That's really simple too
and it does not require any active devices such as solenoids or other magnetic
switches. Here is a way to wire it up that is fool-proof and trouble free.
My rig uses this simple system and it works great. Since the accessory
battery is not used for high-amperage cranking duty, a 10-gauge wire running
from your engine cranking battery to the auxiliary battery will suffice.
Click on the battery photo for a wiring
diagram and more info.

Charge up your call box using solar power. Never suffer from a dead call box battery in the field again. It's a simple project and if you are somewhat handy with DC circuits, it's a snap. Click your mouse on the call box picture and see just how easy it is to charge your batteries using the sun. NOTE: This alteration may void the warranty on your caller. Do not perform any electrical task unless you are totally confident that you know what you are doing and you accept the consequences if you screw it up. I am not responsible for your mistakes.

OK, so what happens when you and your buddy decide to cut a 36" X 36" hole through the top of his Chevy Suburban and install a coyote hunting hatch? Here are some photos of the job, start to finish. Click on the photo to see the rest of the pictures. |
